FAQs

We’ve pulled together the answers to the questions we get asked most. So you don’t have to ask twice.

Service & Repairs

Does Mac Daddy handle Apple warranty repairs?

We don’t handle Apple warranty claims. If your Mac is still under warranty or AppleCare, it’s best to check with Apple first.

But if you're out of warranty and looking for a faster, more affordable option, we've got you covered.

What types of Mac repairs do you offer?

We cover everything from screen replacements and battery issues to logic board repairs, software glitches, data recovery, and more.

If it’s a Mac and it’s broken, chances are, we fix it.

Do you work on all Mac models and years?

Absolutely. From vintage MacBooks to the latest M-series machines, our techs are trained across the full Apple lineup.

What if my issue isn’t listed on your pricing page?

No worries, just get in touch. We’ll assess the problem and give you a clear, upfront quote before any work begins.

Does Mac Daddy use genuine Apple parts?

No. We use high-quality, reliable parts that meet the highest industry standards.

While Apple limits access to genuine components, our parts are rigorously tested and confidently backed by our 90-day limited warranty.

Can you recover data from a faulty Mac?

Yes, in most cases. Whether it’s a dead drive or a stubborn system crash, we’ll do everything we can to get your files back safely.

Booking & Process

Do I need to book an appointment?

Skip the queues and waiting rooms, we keep it simple. Once you approve the service, you can choose a 2-hour time slot that fits your schedule.

How quickly can I schedule my Mac in for service?

Scheduling is fast and easy. Simply get in touch online, and we’ll quickly get back to you with service options and the next available 2 hour time-slot our technician can visit.

How long will my repair take?

Most repairs are completed on-site in less than an hour, provided parts are available.

For more complex repairs and services, we’ll securely take your Mac and return it to you once fully serviced, usually next business day.

Can I get service without having a technician come into my home?

Of course. If you’d prefer not to have an in-home visit, we offer a convenient pick-up and return service.

Your Mac will be collected, repaired off-site at our studio, and returned to you—typically by the next business day.

Which locations do you service?

We currently service most of Metro Melbourne and Geelong. Just enter your address when you enquire, and we’ll confirm if we can come to you.

If you're just outside this zone, get in touch and we’ll do our best to help.

Pricing & Payment

Are there any unexpected costs?

Nothing extra. We don’t charge for call-outs, diagnostics, or pick-up and drop-off fees.

You’ll only pay for the agreed upon services before the repair begins. If we can't fix it you pay nothing.

What’s included in the listed pricing?

All listed prices include everything. Parts, labour, GST, and a 90-day limited warranty. No fine print, no surprises.

When and how do I pay for the repair?

You only pay once the job’s done and you’re happy. We accept card payments and provide an invoice on the spot.

Warranty & Support

Do you offer a warranty on service?

Yes, all our service is backed by a 90-day limited warranty. If the same issue reappears within that time, we’ll fix it, at no extra cost.

It’s our way of standing behind our work.

What does the 90-day limited warranty cover?

Our 90-day limited warranty covers any issues related to the original service performed. If the same problem returns within that time, we’ll fix it at no additional cost.

Please note, it doesn’t cover accidental damage, liquid damage, or any tampering or modifications made after the repair.

What if a new issue pops up after service?

If a different issue comes up after your service, just get in touch. We’ll assess it and provide clear options.

While it wouldn’t be covered under the original warranty, we’re always here to help and will do our best to get you sorted quickly and affordably.

Could I lose my data during service?

While data loss is unlikely, it's always a possibility during repair.

We take every precaution to protect your data, but we strongly recommend backing up your Mac before service. That way, your files stay safe. Just in case.

Why do I have to turn off Find My Mac before service?

Find My Mac is a security feature that helps protect your device, but it also prevents us from servicing it.

We need it turned off to safely access and repair your Mac. Don’t worry, we'll guide you on how to do it.

Environment & Recycling

What do you do with replaced or old parts?

We responsibly recycle all components in partnership with Planet Ark, ensuring your e-waste stays out of landfill.

What happens to my data when you recycle my storage or main logic board?

We follow strict data protection protocols. Before any component is recycled, all your data is securely wiped to ensure it can’t be accessed.

We take privacy seriously and guarantee that no data is recoverable once the process is complete.

Can I give my old Mac for recycling?

Yes, we accept old Macs for recycling.

Can I recycle other electronic devices with you?

Currently, we only accept Macs for recycling. However, we’re committed to responsible recycling and can guide you on how to properly recycle other electronics through our trusted partners.

Safety

Who are your technicians? Are they qualified?

Our technicians are highly skilled and fully qualified in Apple Mac repairs. They are certified professionals with extensive training and experience in servicing Apple products.

Is it safe to have a technician visit my home or workplace?

Yes, absolutely! Our technicians are professional, background checked, and trained to handle your Mac with care. We follow strict safety protocols to ensure a secure and respectful experience in your home or workplace.

How much space does the technician need?

Our technicians just need a small, clear workspace, about the size of a desk or table where they can safely set up your Mac and any tools required for the repair.

A well-lit, accessible area is ideal, but we can work with most spaces to get the job done.

What is ESD Safety?

ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) safety protects your Mac’s sensitive internal components from static electricity, which can cause serious damage during repair.

Our technicians use ESD-safe tools and work on anti-static mats designed to ground any electrical charge. It’s a behind the scenes detail but an important one that ensures your device is treated with the highest level of professional care.

What about my pets?

We love pets! Our technicians are happy to work in homes with furry (or feathered) friends. That said, we do prefer pets be kept in a separate room during service.

Small parts or tools may be laid out on the table and could pose a hazard. It’s all about keeping things safe and stress free for everyone involved (including your four-legged family members).
